Mehmanghar — Vacation Rental Platform for India
TL;DR
Mehmanghar is a full-stack vacation rental platform built for the Indian short-term rentals market, live at mehmanghar.in. I designed and built the entire product: property listings for unique stays, end-to-end booking flows, a host dashboard for managing properties and reservations, and automated guest communication that handles confirmations and follow-ups without manual work. The frontend is Next.js and the backend Node.js, structured so hosts can self-serve while operations stay observable. Mehmanghar also works as a brand family — Healing Stays, its medical-proximity offshoot serving patients near Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, runs on the same platform playbook, and a cost-engineered voice agent calls guests after checkout to collect feedback. Like all my builds, it shipped as a working MVP in days and then iterated weekly, with automation designed in from the start rather than bolted on afterwards.
What does the platform do?
Mehmanghar targets the Indian short-term rentals market with curated, unique stays rather than commodity listings. Guests browse properties, check availability, and book directly; hosts manage listings, pricing, and reservations from a dedicated dashboard.
Guest communication is automated end to end — booking confirmations, pre-arrival information, and post-stay follow-ups go out without anyone touching an inbox. That automation later extended to voice: a phone agent calls guests after checkout to collect feedback, with WhatsApp notifications to cohosts.
What is the stack?
Next.js on the frontend for fast, SEO-friendly pages; Node.js services on the backend for listings, bookings, and messaging. The scope is full-stack: product design, data model, booking logic, host tooling, and the automation layer are all one system rather than stitched-together tools.
